Solange Ribeiro

Vice-Chair UN Global Compact

Solange Ribeiro is the Vice-Chair of the UN Global Compact’s Board, leveraging over 30 years of experience in the electricity sector. She began her distinguished career at AES Eletropaulo and Chesf, eventually becoming CEO of Neoenergia from 2012 to 2017 after initially joining the company in 2004 as Executive Director for Regulatory and Environment. Her leadership extends across multiple boards, including the National System Operator and the Brazilian Association of Electric Energy Distributors. Additionally, Ribeiro is a member of the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development and engages actively with the Institute E+ Energy Transition. Committed to promoting a sustainable and inclusive global agenda, she plays a key role in multisectoral coalitions focused on accelerating climate action through energy transitions. Ribeiro holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the Federal University of Pernambuco and a Master’s degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, with further academic pursuits in environmental technology at Imperial College London.
