Graduated in Industrial Chemistry, with a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering from the Military Institute of Engineering (IME) and a Ph.D. in Energy Planning from the Energy Planning Program (PPE) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He has more than thirty years of professional experience in the oil, natural gas, and biofuels sector, also working in undergraduate and graduate teaching, with three published books and more than thirty scientific papers presented. He was President of Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (PETROBRAS) and a Member of its Board of Directors. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Empresa Brasileira de Administração de Petróleo e Gás Natural S.A. (PPSA), National Secretary of Oil, Natural Gas, and Biofuels at the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), and Director of Petroleum, Gas, and Biofuels Studies at the Energy Research Company (EPE). He has been awarded several medals and prizes of great relevance. He is currently the President of Aurum Energia.
